Healthy Eating – A New Year’s Resolution

Many people choose to start up a demanding workout routine planning to lose weight.  But did you know that the foods you eat, not the workouts you do, ultimately determine your weight?

Cardiovascular and strength workouts are important for your heart, your bones, and your mind, but three hour sweat sessions aren’t going to lead you to the healthy figure you may desire.  Instead, eating a balanced meal around 2,000 calories a day is the way to go.

Eating diets rich in fruits and vegetables, replacing sugary beverages with lemon water, controlling portion sizes, and eating more fish rich in omega-3 are all simple and tasty ways to maintain a healthy diet without forfeiting great tasting food.  If you are unaware of the loads of salt packed into so many restaurant dishes, frozen foods, and even processed breads, please start reading nutrition labels.

This year, instead of adding more grueling hours of gym workouts, embrace healthy eating.  It’s not “dieting” in the typical sense; it’s just eating healthy, great-tasting food every day.  Pair healthy eating with a 30-minute brisk walk each day and you’ll be on the road to a healthy life.
